The Annual DMC Conference 2022
The annual DMC Conference is an event you don’t want to miss. The conference is attended by some of the most efficient farmers responsible for 25% of South Africa’s milk production. The main focus of the conference was to discuss strategies to maximise the health of the unborn calf in terms of bull selection, nutrition, and vaccination programs.
The conference is always a good platform where industry successes and challenges are discussed together with farm owners, managers, veterinarians, feeding companies and other key role players in the industry. Technical aspects of the industry was also discussed in terms of cow performance and the needs of the industry and the dairy farmers. It was the perfect opportunity to meet people with the same or even different goals than what you have and in that way, exchange valuable knowledge between each other.
The farm visit was an opportunity to learn a lot since these two farms are two of the highest producing dairy farms in the country with massive success that can be attributed to precision farming which is definitely the way forward if your goal is to make a profit and improve the genetic makeup and overall health of your herd.
